"All that glitters": Reappraising "Golden Land"

The article re-evaluates William Faulkner’s short story “Golden Land”, arguing that critics have oversimplified it as a straightforward attack on Hollywood and modern culture. The author shows that ideological assumptions—especially about sexuality, morality, and the status of short stories—have limited interpretation. Instead, the story should be read as more complex and closely connected to Faulkner’s major works.
