The article examines how Anakana Schofield uses modernist techniques in Malarky and Martin John to address contemporary social and political issues. Through fragmented narration and experimental style, the novels highlight themes of gender, isolation, surveillance, and social control. It argues that these works represent “21st-century modernism,” where literary form serves political critique.
