Resisting rape in the man of law's tale

This paper explores how The Man of Law’s Tale portrays acts of resistance against rape not only on a physical level but also through moral, spiritual, and religious strength. Through Custance, Chaucer may be questioning—or reinforcing—the gender norms of his time.
