Postmodern Ethics And The Textual Representation Of Violence

The article “Postmodern Ethics and the Textual Representation of Violence” explores how violence is portrayed in texts through a postmodern ethical lens. It argues that violence in literature is not just an act but a representation shaped by language, reader interpretation, and cultural context. Traditional (normative) ethics cannot fully address the complexity and ambiguity of these representations. Instead, postmodern ethics—which accepts multiple meanings and moral uncertainties—offers a more flexible way to understand and respond to depictions of violence.
