23 English eng Lurie, Peter Contributor <p>The article analyzes how <span data-start="154" data-end="174" style="">William Faulkner</span> and <span data-start="179" data-end="193" style="">Hart Crane</span> represent <span data-start="204" data-end="232" style="">historical consciousness</span> through <span data-start="241" data-end="268" style="">suffering and sexuality</span> in modernist literature. It argues that Faulkner depicts suffering in a more conventional, heterosexual, and power-oriented way, while Crane presents suffering as a queer, shared, and empathetic experience.
