23 English eng Li, Stephanie Contributor <p data-start="987" data-end="1302">The article <span data-start="999" data-end="1082">“<em data-start="1002" data-end="1024" style="">Intruder in the Dust</em> From Novel to Movie: The Development of Chick Mallison”</span> examines how the character Chick Mallison evolves when <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline">Intruder in the Dust</span> is adapted into the film <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline">Intruder in the Dust</span>, originally written by <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline">William Faulkner</span>. It compares Chick’s portrayal in the novel and the movie. In the novel, Chick is psychologically complex, showing a coming-of-age journey and a deepening understanding of justice and race. In contrast, the film simplifies his character, focusing more on plot and action, which reduces the depth of his internal development.
