23 English eng Carnell, Rachel Contributor <p>This article examines <span data-start="149" data-end="188" style="">Tabitha Tenney's <em data-start="168" data-end="186" style="">Female Quixotism</em></span> within a <span data-start="198" data-end="245" style="">transatlantic literary and cultural context</span>, showing how the novel draws upon and transforms European literary traditions, particularly those associated with <span data-start="360" data-end="398" style="">Miguel de Cervantes' <em data-start="383" data-end="396" style="">Don Quixote</em></span> and eighteenth-century sentimental and Gothic fiction. The study argues that the novel critiques the unrealistic expectations created by popular romance novels while reflecting broader cultural exchanges between Europe and the early United States.
