Renegotiating the Marginality of the Maghreb in Queer African Studies

[...]it is worth highlighting that the Maghreb is geographically and historically closely linked to Europe and the Arab world, but it is also within the African Union and a signatory to the Charter. Nonetheless, the countries of this region do share a common history of colonization by France. [...]although I use the term Maghreb in a general manner, I am cognizant that the Maghreb is not a homogenous region. [...]the cultures in each of the countries are multifaceted and so are the strands of Islam practiced in the different countries and within them as well.
